An ex-convict, 35-year-old Akinola Nifemi is to spend the next three years in jail for burglary and stealing household items valued at N100, 000, an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court ruled on Tuesday.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Idowu Ayenimo, who pronounced the sentence, did not give the convict an option of fine.
He said since the thief had admitted guilt the court had no option than to sentence him accordingly.
The accused was arraigned for stealing to which he pleaded guilty.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Sgt. Bankole Olasunkanmi, told the court that the accused committed the offence on April 29 at about 11.40 p.m. at No. 17, Omisanjana St., Ado-Ekiti.
He said Nifemi, who is an ex-convict, broke into the house of a policeman, Sgt. Musa Saliu and stole one DVD player, a stabilizer and a mattress valued at N100,000.
The offence contravened Section 390 (f) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ekiti State 2012.
