End Of The Road: NYSC member, another arrested during attempt to rob ATM

The CP added that the arrested men were caught during their attempt to break into the ATM of an EcoBank branch with a digger and axe.

One Aka-Jude Tersoo, a National Youth Service Corps, NYSC member, has been arrested along with an accomplice during an attempt to break into an Automatic Teller Machine, ATM, in Kogi State.

Daily Post reports that the suspects were apprehended with a  locally made gun.

According to the reports, the corps member was among the 36 suspects arrested in the last one week in the state.

The police also revealed that five persons who are suspected members of the Boko Haram sect were also apprehended by the officers of the state command.

While addressing journalists on arrested criminals yesterday in Lokoja, the Commissioner of Police, Wilson Inalegwu, disclosed that the culprit posted to the state for the one-year national service was caught with his accomplice identified as, Godwin Idih, on April 26 at about 2.30am.

The CP added that the arrested men were caught during their attempt to break into the ATM of an EcoBank branch with a digger and axe.

“My men who were on patrol duty noticed suspicious movement at EcoBank branch, Ganaja junction, Lokoja, and stopped to observe.

“On close examination, they saw two individuals who were later identified as Godwin Idih and Aka-Jude Tersoo breaking the ATM with digger and axe.

“The police team promptly intercepted and arrested the suspects with the exhibits. But sadly, one of them is a serving corps member,” he said.

Inalegwu commended the operatives of the command for their gallantry, saying that 15 notorious armed robbers were also arrested within the state in the week under review; while another eight persons were also arrested for receiving of stolen vehicles.

Daily Post reports that Inalegwu listed other items recovered from the robbers as AK47rifles, live cartridges, charms, a cheque of N8.4m submitted by Abimaje Yakubu at First Bank Lokoja but belonging to the manager of Fava travels, Mr. Victor Edomwande.
