Two young Nigerians have been killed in South Africa in another wave of xenophobic attacks on non-indigenes.
Two young Nigerians identified as Chimezie Oranusi and Ernest Ughakwesili, have been shot dead in South Africa in what is believed to be another wave of xenophobic attacks.
This was made known by the Chairman of the Nigerian Union in South Africa, Mike Ibitoye, who confirmed that the young businessmen were murdered in the Western Cape province of the country.
In a telephone chat with News Agency of Nigeria from his base in Cape Town, Ibitoye said the victims were killed by yet to be identified gunmen.

Ibitoye added that the second victim, 26-year-old Oranusi from Oba town, also in Anambra State, was shot with a friend in a car at Delst area of Cape Town.
“The friend is a South African and is still in the hospital receiving treatment. The incidents have been reported to the police and the national secretariat of the union.
We urge Nigerians in South Africa to remain law abiding. We also appeal to the Federal Government to continue to protect the welfare of our people here.”
Confirming the double murders, a friend of Ughakwesili, Chima Okeke who posted the story on his Facebook page, claimed the victims were targetted by the gunmen.
Lamenting the death of Ughakwesili, Okeke wrote:
"Ernest Ugha, my little brother's best man, another victim of South African Xenophobic killing.
The only eyes of his mother, Ernest left the shores of Nigeria for a greener pasture in South Africa. His crime was his struggles to survive. Now he is cold dead, shot by the same people we fought for their independence.

Oscar, as he was popularly called, was not only an indigene of Nkpor, he was a family, my little brother's best man. What a great loss. I feel deeply pained in my heart. Nothing is as bad as being hated in your country and outside your country.
May the soul of Oscar rest in peace. I pray his aged mother survives the shock."
