A man has been remanded in jail over the alleged abduction of a 16-year-old girl in Osun state.
A Magistrates' court sitting in Ile-Ife, Osun state, has on Wednesday, May 10, 2017, ordered the remand of one Linus Joseph for the alleged abduction of a 16-year-old girl.
The court heard that the accused reportedly committed the crime on May 1 at Oke-Ogbo Area of Ile-Ife.

The Prosecutor, Insp Emmanuel Abdullahi, said that the accused abducted the victim identified as Blessing Michael, 16, and took her to an unknown destination.
Abdullahi said the offence was contrary to Section 361 of the Criminal Code, Cap 34, Vol. 11, Laws of Osun, 2003.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the one-count charge of abduction.
Joseph's counsel, Mr. Ben Adirieje, pleaded for bail on liberal terms, saying the accused would provide reliable sureties.
The presiding Magistrate, Dorcas Ajiboye, granted the accused N200, 000 bail with one surety each in like sum.
Ajiboye also ordered that the surety, who must be a blood relation and reside within the court’s jurisdiction, should swear to an affidavit of means as well as submit two recent passport photographs.
She stated that the surety should produce three years proof of tax payment while his address must be verified by court officials.

NAN reports that the accused who was unable to perfect his bail terms was remanded in jail.
The case was adjourned till June 16 for hearing.
