The Senior Magistrate, Mrs Y. S.  Alebiosu, did not give the convict any option of fine.

An Ota Magistrates Court in Ogun on Wednesday sentenced a 31-year-old woman, Nzozi  Chucks, to six months imprisonment for stealing N300,000.

The Senior Magistrate, Mrs Y. S.  Alebiosu, did not give the convict any option of fine.

The accused, whose address was not disclosed in the court, was charged with stealing N300,000.

She, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Prosecutor, Sgt. Dominic Tsav, told the court that the accused committed the offence on Jan. 19, 2016 at No. 4, Okewale Street, Arigbabu, Ota.

He said that the accused borrowed N300,000 from one Marcel Orji  with the intention to use the money to do business and return the money after the business.

”The accused refused to return the money to the complainant after making profit from the money and all efforts to make her refund the money proved abortive, ” he said.

The prosecutor said that the offence contravened Section 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.
