Gold Circle Condoms TV adverts used to be so preachy, but they are now cool and fun to watch.
When you think of condoms, you would think of Durex before Gold Circle condoms, that's just the way things are. Boys on the streets have preferred the global brand over the local brand.
With Gold Circle releasing a new brand 'Gold Circle Flex Condom' and much more cooler ads, guys and babes might be patronising them.
There is a new Gold Circle condom ad that has been floating around Twitter for the past few days. The advert is hilarious and plays on how younger people still try to hide the fact that they are sexually active from older folks. The embarrassment is something most of us can relate to.
While this advert is way cooler it still a bit conservative. Notice how the lady in the advert has a marriage ring. This subtle imagery reinforces the conservative idea that sex is meant for married people. Still, it's a brilliant video.

There are other Gold Circle videos that are even more fun. In one of the ads, there is a lot of sexual energy between a couple. In a third ad, Gold Circle cheekily uses imagery to sell the popular notion of "the bigger, the better."
These new Gold Circle ads are a huge improvement from the popular advert from the 90s featuring a man who dropped his pack of Gold Circle condoms in a molue (large transport bus in Lagos).
The conductor of the molue tried to make fun of the man but like in a double period maths class things became quickly boring as the man went on to lecture the conductor on the importance of safe sex. How boring.
