Two brothers who are nationals of Niger Republic have been arrested by the police in Lagos State for allegedly murdering a security man over money.
Two blood brothers, Samuna and Haruna Hussein, both nationals of Niger Republic, have been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly killing a security guard over a N2.6 million deal.
The Nation reports that the suspects who are 26 and 25-years-old respectively, were arrested on November 27, 2016, for allegedly murdering the victim, Kola Segun, a security man attached to a telecommunication firm in the Oniru area of the state.
It was gathered that the suspects as well as two other security men attached to the firm, Rasaki Yusuf and Saidi Amosun, were arrested by police operatives attached to the Maroko Division after Segun’s wife, Juliana, lodged a complaint.

The Nation learned that Samuna who works with the firm, had contacted the victim around 5am on November 24, over a job offer from their boss at Lekki Phase I.
When Samuna called the victim about the job, he was said to have told his wife about it before leaving home to see his colleagues but when he did not return the next day and could not be reached on the phone, his wife became apprehensive and went to look for him at the office.
But on getting there, she was told that the late Segun was never called by the boss and when she for Samuna, he was said to be off duty but she got his number from one of the security men and called the suspect.
According to a police source, Juliana called Samuna several times but he refused to answer her calls but he later picked up and told her that her husband duped him of N2.6 million and that he collected the money under the guise of helping him buy a land but disappeared.
The police source went further:
“She went back to the company on November 26 with the hope of seeing Samuna to understand what he was talking about but he was not in the office. She was told that he had instructed she should enter the premises and wait for him, but sensing danger, the woman left.”
The woman then went to report a case of missing person at the station, stating that the last time she saw her husband was November 24, when he left home for a meeting with Samuna but unknown to her, Samuna had already gone to the station around 2pm on November 24 to complain that Segun and two others attacked him at his residence and collected N2.6 million from him.
But when he was assigned to an Investigating Police Officer (IPO) and asked to make a statement, he left the station, pretending that his boss wanted him and he would be back.
“So, it was after the woman went to report about her missing husband Segun and mentioned Samuna that the police started investigating.
Police took her to identify the company where her husband worked and it turned out that it was the same case. That was how Sumana and his brother were arrested.
Initially, he denied knowing the whereabouts of the deceased. He claimed that the deceased collected the money he raised with his brothers to buy land and absconded.
The police then contacted the security men on duty that day and one old man disclosed that Samuna and his brother were beating Segun in the premises.
He said he overheard them asking him where the money was and beating him seriously that he had to come out and chase them out of the premises to avoid any problem.
It was at that point that Samuna admitted that they used hammer to beat him and that he later gave his brother, Haruna, N20,000 to take him to the hospital. And that his brother told him he took him to the hospital. But the police didn’t believe the story.
The police probed further and Haruna confessed that they buried him inside the compound. He said that while he was taking him to the hospital, the tricyclist who was to convey them there said he was not going.
He said Segun was unconscious and seems to have died and so, he carried him through the back gate of the company, which was opened by his brother and they buried him there.
They buried him in such a way that no one would know. They used dried weeds and debris to cover the grave. Anyone passing there wouldn’t know anything happened.
It was when the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Abdulmajid Isa came to the site with some officers that we even knew what happened.”
