The newly appointed Commissioner for Happiness in Imo State has been berating ignorant Nigerians for criticizing her brother.
The newly appointed Commissioner for Happiness and Couple Fulfilment in Imo State, Mrs. Ogechi Ololo, nee Okorocha, has been busy defending her brother, Gov. Rochas Okorocha over her appointment.
Mrs. Ololo who has tried everything to defend her brother for finding her worthy of heading the newly created ministry, says she was not appointed as a Commissioner because she is the Governor's sister but because of what she would bring to the table.
In an interview with BBC Africa, the new Commissioner said Nigerians condemning her brother for making her head the ministry are ignorant and do not know what it entails to make the people of the state happy and fulfilled.

She stated that the real reason behind the creation of the ministry was to cater for the welfare of Imo residents who have been noticed to lead unhappy lives.
According to her, the ministry will pay school fees of Imo citizens who cannot afford it, to ensure citizens of Imo State remain happy despite the economic meltdown and Biafran fiasco, to ensure couples in the state have a reduced divorce rate and better-fulfilled marriages and to cater to the welfare of the average Imo indigene. amongst other benefits.
“Happiness can mean anything to anybody; for some people, happiness means having food on their table, some it’s about schools, some about the roads, some it’s about security.
Here in Imo, we have free education; this policy makes people happy by paying for children’s school fees. So that is the policy of happiness and that is part of the ministry of happiness,” she said.
When asked why Okorocha appointed his sister, she added:
“Okorocha did not create the ministry because I am his sister. There are so many people out there that need help, that need our service.
Happiness can be defined based on individuals reactions. This is Imo life and I believe that Imo people are very happy about it.
It is a new ministry and people don’t understand, so they have the right to ask questions but with time they will definitely understand the meaning of Commissioner of Happiness.”
The Commissioner for Happiness also went into a Twitter war with many Nigerians who have been condemning the creation of the ministry, coming out to attack those whom she believes lack basic knowledge of how a government is run.
Using her Twitter handle, Commissioner for Happiness @MrsOgechiOlolo, she berated those who, according to her, are ignorant.

Responding to more 'ignorant people', she said:
"I am truly surprised by the outbursts of young Nigerians on his Excellency, Dr Rochas Okorocha. If you don't understand something, keep quiet, read and research. Make good use of your senses.
Let me educate Nigerians on this; for those 'lacking ignorance' [Sic]. The United Arab Emirates has ministers of happiness and they are ahead of us."
