Amasa Firdaus

Amasa Firdaus' actions now has the country talking about religion and its place in governmental institutions.

The prop of the week goes to the lady Amasa Firdaus who refused to take off her Hijab at the Call To Bar.

Her resilience, while it cost her being called to the bar, helped create awareness on an issue that has been going on for the past 5 decades.

Female Muslim lawyers are expected to wear only their wigs and nothing else. You cannot wear your wig on your Hijab. Firdaus' refusal to comply with this age-long tradition became a viral hit and sparked a much-needed conversation on the matter.

Ms Amasa Firdaus should be applauded for her courage and resolve to challenge an old system. Her action has started up a debate that we hope would not die a quick death.

We are all entitled to freedom of religion but where does that freedom start and stop? These are the questions Firdaus has brought to the limelight.

For her action, she gets the prop of the week.
