A 28-year-old mother of three, Maureen Adejo who was allegedly beaten and tortured to death by her banker husband, Olaoluwa Adejo, has been buried amidst tears and wailing by her family and friends.

The couple were said to have been married for five years before the devil crept into their home and caused confusion which led to her avoidable death.

The marriage which was blessed with three children, was said to have been marred by disagreements as the bank worker had allegedly threatened to kill his wife if she did not pack out of his house.

She was said to have packed to her mother’s house but returned for a party at her children’s school only to be killed by her husband who was said to have used a machete to inflict cuts on her before forcing her to drink a poisonous substance known locally as 'Otapiapia.'

However, Adeja had insisted that he did not kill his wife, claiming that she committed suicide by drinking the substance but their five-year-old son who witnessed the incident, had graphically narrated to the police how his father tortured his mother to death.

The case was subsequently transferred from the Oworonshoki Police Station to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Yaba, from where Adejo was charged to court and remanded in prison.
