In Osun: Court orders remand of 40-year-old man for alleged N1.3m fraud

The accused pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge of fraud and stealing.

An Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday ordered the remand of 40-year-old man, Adekunle Akeem, for alleged N1.3 million fraud.

The prosecutor, Insp. Emmanuel Abdullahi, had told the court that the accused committed the offence sometimes in December 2014, at Iremo Road, Ile-Ife in Osun.

Abdullahi said that the defendant obtained N1.3 million from one Adefeso Abiodun, under the pretence that he would supply him Picnic Toyota car, but failed to do so.

The prosecutor said the offence contravened Section 383 and punishable under sections 390 (9) and 419 of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol. 11, Laws of Osun, 2003.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge of fraud and stealing.

Magistrate Iyabo Salami granted bail to the accused in the sum of N500, 000 with one surety in like sum and adjourned the case until May 9 for hearing.
