Edeh was ordered remanded in prison for beating up his mother and insulting his father as well.
A Masaka Chief Magistrates’ Court in Nasarawa State, has ordered the release of 21-year-old Emmanuel Edeh, from Keffi prison, after spending one week there.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Victor Manga, had ordered that Edeh be remanded in prison for beating up his mother and insulting his father as well.
Manga ordered the release of the youth after hearing from his father that his wife (Emmanuel’s mother) had not been herself since their son was sent to prison.
“My Lord, my wife has been sick since I told her that our son has been taking to prison, in order for him to learn his lesson.
“She has been disturbing me to go and beg you to please release him, because she knows he must have realised his mistake.
“Some days back my wife fainted; after she regained herself, she asked me about her son.
“Please sir, for the sake of my wife, who has not, been herself, temper justice with mercy and release him.
“Left for me, I would love him to spend more days in prison,’’ the father said.
The magistrate instructed that Emmanuel should write undertaken to be of good conduct and behaviour to his parents.
He added that he should also write that if abuses or insult his parents again, the court should take necessary action against him.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that Emmanuel was brought to court by his father to help him instil morals and discipline on his son.
When he appeared in court, the magistrate ordered the court clergy Joseph Maku and court bailiff Suleiman, to give him some strokes of the cane before he was taken to prison.
