Remember the 2016 Pneumonia Video Challenge that was launched last year? Yes, we now have the winners. The pneumonia video challenge was launched as part of efforts to raise public awareness and active participation in the protect, prevent and treat campaign through the use of social media.
The video contest which ran from November 14 to December 31, 2016 received entries from different states in the country. The videos were assessed by independent judges who are seasoned specialists in the fields of health communication and videography.
After careful judging and assessment, the top three winning videos went to Olemabu MacNelson Mbee for first prize, Terver Malu for second prize, and Joshua Oluchukwu Lawrence for third prize. The winning videos made use of great story-telling, in addition to unique displays of creativity, including graphics, humour and real-life connections. The winners have been announced on DCL Twitter handle.

Pneumonia is now the number one killer of under 5 children in Nigeria. Over 120,000 children die every year in Nigeria from this easily preventable disease.
You can help bring down these deaths. How? Awareness! Yes, you need to be aware of what pneumonia is and how it affects us and our children. You need to know what steps to take to protect, prevent and treat it. Then you need to communicate this to everyone.
As 2017 starts, let’s ‘Keep the Promise and Stop Pneumonia Now.’ These short, creative and educative videos from the Pneumonia Video contest will greatly help you inform others. Share and spread the word to help save our children.
