Daily Mail: UK newspaper makes another racist gaffe

Daily Mail's story and a picture of the Section Boyz

Daily Mail has made another race blunder which makes it hard not to see the news site as racist.

If the Daily Mail continues with its misrepresentation of black people, the claim that it is a racist media outlet might just stick.

Back in October 2016, Daily Mail posted a shoddy article about the Nigerian rich kids on Instagram.

We are still early into 2017, and Daily Mail has goofed yet again. In its story on the Apex Gang, a violent gang in Australia on January 30, 2017, the media outlet used the picture of British rap crew Section Boyz in the story.

The faces of the members of Section Boyz were blurred in the photo. The article focused on Apex Gang who are said to be the masterminds behind car robberies and home invasions in Melbourne.

It is baffling as to why Daily Mail won't be able to differentiate between gangsters and rappers. If they had done any research they would have known that Section Boyz is a very big rap group. Well maybe to Daily Mail a black rapper is the same as a black gangster.

The picture has since been taken down but the question still remains, why does Daily Mail suck at accurately reporting black culture. When Wizkid first popped up on the UK scene he was described as a rapper. Maybe every black entertainer is a rapper according to Daily Mail.

A quick search of Daily Mail's headlines on Google would give you a list of its most racist headlines. The media outlet's blunders might be an indication that not a lot of black people work for the organisation.

If there is enough black representation at the Daily Mail, one of its black journalists would have pointed out that Section Boyz are not gangsters and they performed with Drake last year.

Daily Mail needs a shake-up to improve its coverage of black culture.
