In Delta: Man charged with theft of laptop and iPad

Arraigned on a charge of stealing, Dominic has pleaded innocence of the offence.

A 28-year-old, Daniel Dominic, who allegedly stole a bag containing a laptop, an iPad and N50, 000, was on Monday brought before an Asaba Magistrates’ Court.

Arraigned on a charge of stealing, Dominic has pleaded innocence of the offence.

The prosecution said the accused disappeared with the complainant’s (Mrs Mercy Apene) bag containing a Samsung laptop, one iPad, an ATM card and N50,000.

The accused committed the offence on Oct. 4, 2016 opposite Grand Hotel, Asaba, Police Prosecutor Blessing Okafor told the court.

She said the offence contravened Section 390(6) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Delta State 2006.

The accused was, however, granted bail in the sum of N70,000 with a surety in like sum.

The Magistrate, Mrs Okonkwo Akanume, who gave the ruling, said the surety must be a civil servant and should reside within the court’s jurisdiction.

In addition, she said the surety mush have landed property in the state capital and provide two passport photograghs.

The case has been adjourned to Feb. 7 for hearing.
