You Know I'm Just Joking By Ayomide Tayo: Chimamanda Adichie should stop speaking about men

Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie

Chimamanda Adichie's comment that white men can't speak on racism is a poor generalization of a race.

So...Donald Trump won. Crazy things have happened in this world, but I bet the results of the last US presidential election would go down as the craziest.

It was the political thriller of the century as a sleazy billionaire who lives in a gold penthouse with his exotic model wife who can barely speak English, ran for the office of the President of the United States...and won.

In God's own country, anything is possible and Trump being the 45th President of the United states highlights this. I have a strong feeling that America has entered what we call in the streets as 'one chance'. Trump will drive America to the gutter with his lack of experience in governance and politics. Nothing screams 'end of days' more than Trump in the Oval Office.

The results of the election weren't that bad. Many Nigerians finally had the chance to blast so-called Man of God Pastor T.B Joshua who earlier prophesied (lied) that Hillary Clinton would win the election. The dragging of T.B Joshua was epic. Finally, the Synagogue leader has been 'casted'. Even though the man of God has explained his prophecy we still don't believe him. Let him take his L like a man.

Now let's move to Aunty Chimamanda Adichie, the symbol of wokeness and the icon of Femi-nazism oops I meant feminism. She was back at it again crushing the very fragile masculine ego and stamping on patriarchy.

On BBC Newsnight, Chimamanda Adichie went head to head with Robert Emmett Tyrrell, a conservative who founded The American Spectator. Astonishingly Mr Tyrrell said that President-Elect Donald Trump never made a racist comment during his campaign (lol...and Nigerian politicians don't lie).

Trust our Adichie, she floored the guy with her confident but laid back flow. In no time she had the poor white man stuttering. Shout out to the Amazon of Biafra, and the Nigerian goddess of the pen. She is the Rihanna of literary pop culture.

OK, let me stop with the praising. There is a statement that Adichie made that I strongly disagree with. The award-winning author said, "If you are a white man you don't get to define what racism is." Hold up, time out- this statement makes no sense.

Chimamanda Adichie's wokeness sometimes is hindered by the black and white lenses she sees the world. Do not forget that a few months ago she said Barack Obama wouldn't have won the US election if his wife had nappy hair. Now she is saying that white people can't comment on racism. These statements are both wrong.

Racism is more than just black and white that many people think it is. Racism is about colour. There are Nigerians who are racists towards Indians and Chinese people. Does this mean Nigerians can't speak on racism because they are the oppressors in this context?

Racism is evil and to think that a particular race of men can't comprehend this type of evil or empathize with people who have been victims of is also a racist statement.

Chimamanda Adichie's generalization that white people or men (remember she is a feminist) can't speak or have an opinion on racism is wrong. Not every white man is a racist. During slavery in America, there were many white men who helped black slaves escape from plantations. Not every white man belongs to the KKK. In the Northern part of America, the whites were more liberal and didn't embrace slavery like the Americans down south.

If the famed author believes her statement to be true, then she shouldn't have an opinion on Nigerian men because she doesn't know what it means to be a man. If a white man cannot speak on racism because he is not black, I wonder why a woman speaks on men a lot. Yes, I know she writes about the rights of women but she writes a whole lot about Nigerian men which is puzzling because she is not one.

Please, Chimamanda let the wokeness come down a little. Not every is a fight. Please twerk a little and do the #MannequinChallenge.
