A security man has been burnt to death following an outbreak of violence during the election of a PDP chairman in Abia.
The tussle for the Chairmanship of the Isialangwa North Local Government Area of Abia State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), ended in death as a security man was set ablaze.
Abia Facts reports that apart from the security man attached to the local government secretariat whose name was given as Onyenmaechi Onyenro, another supporter identified as Amarachi Orioha, was also severely burnt and is in critical condition in a hospital.

It was gathered that two political bigwigs in the hunt for the ticket, Hon. Ginger Onwusibe and Chief Uzoma Ihuka, had mobilized their thugs who went into a free for all fight at the venue of the election, leaving in their wake death and wanton destruction of property.
It was also alleged that the burning of the secretariat and the council chairman’s office was initiated by Chief Ihuka's thugs and militia, an action which was as a result of the imposition of Hon. Onwusibe by the former governor, Senator T. A Orji, and the Abia State PDP.
An eyewitness narrated that trouble broke out when some delegates rejected the list presented by party officials, with the delegates threatening to disrupt the exercise on the grounds that the list was allegedly doctored to favour a particular aspirant Hon. Onwusibe.
The witness added that in the midst of the crisis, somebody sneaked into the chairman’s office with a jerrycan of petrol and set the place ablaze.

In the ensuing fire, Onyenro, an indigene of Obingwa and father of three, was burnt to death while Orioha, a married mother of five was also severely burnt.
