A local chief has been arrested by the Akwa Ibom State Police for attempting to assassinate a Paramount Ruler with charms.
A village chief has been arrested by the Akwa Ibom State Police Command for attempting to diabolically charm a Paramount Ruler.
Killer Punch reports that the suspect, Chief Iboro Okon Okoyom, a title holder in Oruk Anam Local Government Area of the state, connived with others now at large, to assassinate and charm the Paramount Ruler of the council.

Briefing crime reporters in Uyo, the state capital, the Commissioner for Police, Murtala Mani, said the Chief Okoyom was arrested after the Paramount Ruler lodged a complaint at the Oruk Anam Division the his life was in danger.
After a secret investigation, the suspect was arrested and has confessed to his role in the crime.
Chief Okoyom was said to have contacted some persons to assassinate the Paramount Ruler and was arrested with charms which he obtained from a native doctor to carry out his plot.
While fielding questions from reporters, the suspect admitted approaching a native doctor in Ikono Local Government Area to prepare charm for him but denied any plan to assassinate his Paramount Ruler as there was no quarrel between them.

Mani said the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) and would be charged to court soon.
