Akwa Ibom state police have arrested a 51-yr-old woman, amongst others over the sale of a baby.
A 51-year-old woman has been arrested for buying a 2-month-old baby for N450,000.

The Commissioner of police for Akwa Ibom state, Mr Murtala Mani, made the disclosure while briefing newsmen on Saturday, October 22 in Uyo, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.
Represented by the police spokesperson for the state, ASP Cordelia Nwanwe, Mani said that a homoeopathic doctor identified as Eneyo Nyang was also arrested in connection with the case.
He revealed that the suspect, one Rose Edward, confessed to buying the baby out of desperation to have her own.
In her confession, the mother of the child, Comfort Effiong, said that she sold her baby because she had no one to take care of her.
“I sold the baby because of help; I don’t have anybody to help me. My father is late and my mother is sick and I don’t have anybody to help me,” Effiong said.

Mani went on to assure the people of Akwa Ibom state that the command will continue to do everything in its power to limit crime in the state.
He also warned members of the public who wish to adopt children, to follow the appropriate channels.
