Eight prostitutes who turned the abandoned building of a late Army General into their den in Lagos have been arrested by a taskforce.
Eight commercial sex workers have been arrested by the Lagos State Taskforce on Environmental and Special Offences Unit in the house of the late National Security Adviser, Gen. Andrew Aziza.

PM News reports that the sex workers popularly called 'Ashewo', were arrested in the abandoned house located at 5 Club Road, Ikoyi, during a raid by the taskforce in conjunction with policemen from the Ikoyi Police Division.
The raid was part of the State Government’s clean up exercise in Ikoyi, Lekki, and Victoria Island areas which have been overtaken by illegal and abandoned structures.
The prostitutes, most of whom are from Benue State, according to the Taskforce chairman, Yinka Egbeyemi, will be charged to court for constituting a nuisance in the area.
One of the arrested ladies who identified herself as Patience Ajoke, claimed she is not a prostitute but lived in the compound.
“I don’t know anything happening in the compound until Saturday when they came to arrest us by police from Ikoyi Police Station.
They released us to come back and pack our things. When we were inside to pack our loads, they came back and arrested us again. Nobody has come to warn us to stay away from there.”
Another suspect, Mary Augustine, a 20-year old lady from Benue State, claimed to be a cleaner and not a prostitute.
Another indigene of Benue, Blessing Anjo, 24, said she works as a cook.
“I work as a cook with Mrs. Essie John. I was arrested because they told us to pack out of the house.
We were packing our things when the police came and arrested us. Even if you go there now, my clothes are still on the ground.”

However, Egbeyemi insisted that the women were prostitutes and had turned Azazi’s house into a prostitute den.
The taskforce chairman said that after weeks of surveillance, it was established that different characters including police officers and soldiers patronize the women who also sold illicit gin and hard drugs in the compound.
