A kidnapping suspect arrested in Lagos State has blamed his venture into crime on the economic policies of President Muhammadu Buhari.

A middle-aged man, Charles Ibeleme, arrested for allegedly kidnapping a teenager in the Mushin area of Lagos State claimed that the economic hardship currently ravaging the country owing to the policies of President Muhammadu Buhari, forced him into crime in order to survive.

The suspect who was almost lynched by an angry mob before the police came and rescued him, was said to have touched his victim with a face towel which made the boy become hypnotized.

The kidnapper was about leading the victim away when residents who knew the boy raised an alarm and the suspect was nabbed before he could escape.

When the crowd was beating him and getting ready to lynch the suspect, he was reported to have pleaded:

"It is Buhari o. It is Buhari o. There is no money in town."

Ibeleme was, however, lucky as the timely arrival of the police prevented the crowd from setting him ablaze.
