The Ooni of Ife has told those who criticize him for kneeling down in church, that God is a superior king than he is.
It was a mixture of culture, tradition, and religion when the Ooni of Ife, Kabiyesi Enitan Babatunde Adeyeye Ogunwusi, led the praise and worship session at his palace on Sunday, August 28, 2016, during a thanksgiving service in preparation for his impending European tour.

According to the organizers of the tour, Africula International, the tour which will commence on October 21, until October 30, 2016, will be the first historical visit of the Ooni of Ife to Europe since he ascended the throne of Oduduwa.
The youthful Oba who has never hidden his closeness to God despite being the custodian of the Yoruba culture has been questioned by many for kneeling down during the thanksgiving service, with many saying he has abused his position as a high-ranking king.
But the Oba, in response to his critics, was quick to retort that there is a supreme king who is greater than he is and has authority over all human beings, including earthly kings.

“I will continue to do it forever and ever. Those who criticized me are ignorant of the supreme power of God Almighty before whom all kings must bow. God is the King of all kings. He appoints kings and dethrones them,” Oba Ogunwusi said.
