Captives chained by a Lagos prophet

The Lagos state police responded to a report of a man who chained his son in a house before other captives were found.

Emmanuel Adeyemi, a Christian prophet, has been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command, for chaining his son and other people in his apartment at Oke-Ira, Ogba.

According to Punch News, Adeyemi was apprehended following a tip-off given a member of the community.

Reports have it that 15 adults and 13 teenagers, one of which is Toba Adeyemi, the prophet's son, were found in shackles at different rooms in the apartment.

A police source revealed that their attention was called to the case of a self proclaimed prophet, who chained his son at an apartment.

It was during the course of investigating this that they found others who were in the same condition as Toba.

“The report we initially received was that a boy, Toba (Adeyemi), was being chained down by his father, a self-proclaimed prophet, in the estate. But when we got there, it was more than just the boy. There were 27 others chained in various rooms in the apartment,”

“The suspect claims to be a spiritualist and a prophet. He said his work is to pray for sick people to get well. He said the victims were sick and he had been praying for their healing. The suspect has some magical inscriptions on the wall of his house.

“The families of the victims have not shown up to identify them.”

SP Dolapo Badmos, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the incident.

She revealed that investigations have commenced into the matter in a bid to determine the sanity of the captives.
