Four policemen who were involved in the murder of an innocent teenager in Bayelsa have been arrested and detained.
The fight for justice for Innocent Kokorifa, the 17-year-old boy allegedly shot to death in cold blood by some police officers in Bayelsa State, has started to gather momentum as no less than four officers who were in the team that killed the boy, have been arrested and placed in detention.

It was gathered that the arrest of the officers came after the Deputy Commissioner of Police in Charge of Operations, Amiengheme Andy, assured the family that the police will get to the root of the matter and fish out the culprit.
The death of the teenager who was shot dead by State Police Command’s Anti-Vice team along Airforce Road in Yenagoa, the state capital on August 18, 2016, had drawn serious condemnation and outcry from the public, especially after his mother, Preye Kokorifa, narrated how the police told her to sign a statement declaring that her son was killed by hoodlums.
The father of the victim, David Kokorifa, an officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Rivers State Sector Command, had also cried out for justice for his young child, the first of five children who was murdered while he was an errand for his mother.
Kokorifa had even stated that the team that murdered his son was his very good friend who knew the boy very well.

A police source at the State Command headquarters has confirmed the arrest and detention of the officers.
“I am not authorized to speak on the matter but I know those men are in detention and the police authorities are investigating the incident.
I do not know the exact number of policemen that are detained, but they are between three and four.”
