A primary school teacher has been remanded in prison custody for allegedly raping his 10-year-old pupil.
A 34-year-old school teacher, Tunde Mudashir, has been remanded in prison custody by a Yaba Chief Magistrate’s Court sitting in Lagos State, for allegedly raping a 10-year-old pupil of the Maromipin Nursery and Primary School, a private school in Makoko area of the state.

Punch reports that Mudashir who is a teacher in the school, had tricked the primary three pupil into a deserted classroom after school hours on December 20, 2015, on the pretext of giving her extra lessons, and defiled her.
During the purported extra coaching, Mudashir allegedly told the victim to spread her legs, which she did, while he forcefully removed removed her pants and raped her, covering her mouth in the process to prevent her from crying for help.
After raping her, Mudashir reportedly warned her against telling anyone, threatening to kill her if she did. But when the girl got home, her parents noticed that she groaned with pains when she wanted to urinate, as well discharging blood from her private parts.
Her worried parents coerced her to tell them what had happened and she revealed that her teacher had raped her. She was rushed to the hospital and tests also showed that she had been defiled.
The parents reported the case to the school and the police and the suspect was duly arrested and charged to court on a one count of sexual assault before the presiding magistrate, Mrs. A.F. Adeeyo.
A source narrated how the incident unfolded:
“At the hospital, her father pleaded with her to confide in him. She said she had been warned that she would die if she did, but the father assured her that nothing would happen to her.
She narrated how the teacher lured her into a classroom and raped her. He went with her to the school and charged the management to also conduct a test on her to justify her claim.
The matter was later reported at the Sabo Police Division, leading to Mudashir’s arrest.”

When the charge was read to Mudashir, pleaded not guilty to the crime with Magistrate Adeeyo granting him bail in the sum of N400,000, with two sureties in like sum.
But he was ordered remanded in prison custody till June 20, 2016, pending when he would be able to perfect his bail conditions.
