It was gathered that Mamah, a native of Udenu Local Government Area of the state, could not take the news that she had tested positive to the disease and the attendant stigma that was likely to follow her, so she went to a forest near the Ogwu Rest House in Udeanu and stabbed herself in the stomach.
Police investigations reveal that Mamah had left her home on May 28, at about 6pm, and headed for the where she killed herself.
The State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Ebere Amaraizu confirmed the incident, saying Mamah tested positive to HIV after a test at a nearby hospital, and decided to take her own life.
