Armed robber says he was arrested because he forgot to read Psalm 121

Armed robber claims not reading psalm 121 got him arrested

He further claims God wanted him caught was why he was made him forget to read his protective bible verse.

We must have all seen Nollywood movies where armed robbers were reading Psalm 23 before going for an operation, focusing on the part, “for thou art with me always…”

Everyone has to believe in something, lest he be empty and bereft of an element, but does God really support armed robbery, even though you are a Pastor? Definitely not.

Recently, John Godwin, a 30-year-old reported ex-convict was arrested on a suspected cross-border robbery. During his statement, he claimed he was only caught because he forgot to recite Psalm 121 — the verse he probably reads before every ‘operation.’

Speaking with newsmen, Godwin said: “I was once sent to Ibara Prison in Abeokuta for stealing something at a market in Abeokuta. It was in the prison that I came across Tosin.

“My parents told me when I was born a pastor and prophesied that I would become a pastor. When I was in the prison I used to preach and pray with my colleagues. It is the devil that drove me to crime.

“Whenever we are going on operation, I usually read Psalm 121. I believe reading the Psalms would give me protection throughout the operation period.

“On the fateful day I was arrested, I forgot to read the Psalms before leaving home. I believe God wanted the police to arrest me so as to quit robbery.

Psalm 121 of the King James Version reads;

Psalms 121:1: I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.

Psalms 121:2: My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.

Psalms 121:3: He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumb

Psalms 121:4: Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.

Psalms 121:5: The LORD is thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand.

Psalms 121:6: The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night.

Psalms 121:7: The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul.

Psalms 121:8: The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.to recite Psalm 121 before going for his last operation.”

The verse is for the ones hopeful for divine help. It’s incredible how Godwin feels the verse has been helping him get through his suspected acts that rid people of their hard-earned money and resources.

Godwin who was caught alongside, Solomon Adeniji, 27, Tosin Adeoye, 25, and two nationals of Republic of Benin, Adewale Adebolaji, 45, and Moyori Sule, 42 — further claimed that God wanted him caught was why he made him forget to read Psalm 121.

This intimates that he thinks God has been supporting him — incredible.

Describing their mode of operation, CSP Dolapo Badmos, Zonal Police Public Relations Officer (ZPPRO), said the suspects would snatch vehicles and sell to an ‘Alhaji,’ a receiver in Benin Republic.

There is a difference between dutiful faith and delusional belief.
