Abuja-based couple, Ayo and Khadijat Yahaya are currently in custody for allegedly burning their two-year-old sons private parts in the Kuje.
The boy was allegedly found by their neighbour who heard his screams and came to his resue. Th neighbour was shocked to find the boy is a very terrible condition, he was looking starved, his hands tied and his genitals burnt.
According to sources who spoke to Punch, the child is a product of a failed marriage. His father Ayo[43] and his stepmom, Khadijat forcefully took him from his mother's custody.
On several occasions the boy was said to be starved for days.
Josiah Emerole, The NAPTIP Head,press and Public Relations, confirmed the arrest and said the couple would be charged to court after the holidays.
Emerole said the boy has gone through a successful surgery at a specialist hospital in Abuja through the support of some Good Samaritans.
The couple has been brought to justice.
