One of Nigeria's prolific movie producer is of the opinion that creating a character that connects with the audience is at the heart of a good story.
One of Nigeria's most prolific producers, Mayowa Oluyeba who is the series producer of Battleground, one of the leading television series in the country at the moment, is of the belief that character development is the heart of any good story.
Oluyeba who is still basking in the success of the series believes that 'by nature, people want to connect with others on some level or another. If you give the viewer a reason to empathize with your subject, they'll want to stick around to see what happens to them.’

Since premiering in May 2017, the Telenovela has delighted viewers every weeknight and even celebrated its 100th episode with flair in September.
Though Battleground portrays a contemporary story, viewers who are conversant with good TV series of the past, have compared it to Checkmate, one of the most successful Nigerian TV Series of the early 90s.
The impressive production quality, good editing, great sound quality, great picture, great scripts, great acting and that remarkable theme song, have kept fans glued to their seats eagerly awaiting the next venture into the Battleground world.
And after garnering a massive and dedicated following, unquestionably, Battleground has now become part of pop culture in the country.
The enlivening characters in the multi-layered and controversial life of the wealthy Bhadmus Family and its associates played by seasoned and new actors such as Joke Silva, Shaffy Bello, Kunle Coker, Gbenga Titiloye, Yinka Davies, Ini Dima-Okojie, and Chike Osebuka amongst others, are certainly relatable to the general audience.
Speaking on the success of the series, Oluyeba said:
"The most important part of character development is to form an emotional connection between the viewer and your character.
Establishing this connection should be done as you introduce the character. However, you cannot produce great content without the right equipment.
A success in the development of your subject will create a more compelling story," the cerebral producer said.
