This killer, Ifeanyi Dike, has allegedly escaped from police custody

The University of Port Harcourt undergraduate who raped and murdered an 8-year-old girl for ritual purposes has been re-arrested after escaping from custody.

The 23-year-old student of the University of Port Harcourt, Ifeanyi Dike, who was arrested on Saturday, August 19, 2017, for allegedly raping and killing an eight-year-old girl, has been rearrested a few weeks after he escaped from police custody.

According to a release by the Nigeria Police Force, Dike who also removed the victim's vital body parts like the tongue, eyes, breasts and private parts for ritual purposes, was arrested in Jos, Plateau State, after he had escaped.

Dike had escaped from police custody the following day, leading to the dismissal and prosecution of the police Investigating Officer in the case, Sergeant Johnbosco Okoroeze, while a DPO was also arrested after calls to his phone indicated that he knew something about the escape of the suspect.

Dike, a resident of the Eliozu axis of Port Harcourt and neighbour of the parents of the girl identified as Victory Chikamso, had abducted her on Friday, August 18, 2017, and after raping her, killed her and cut off the vital parts.

 

Luck ran out on him after he was caught by a vigilante group after he had stuffed the remains of the girl in a polythene bag and was trying to dump the body in a bush at about 1:30 am.

Dike who was rearrested by security operatives on Thursday, September 7, 2017, was said to have been immediately taken to Port Harcourt amidst heavy security.
