The Internally Displaced People camps in Benue State occasioned by the recent floods have been turned into a sex zone by sex-crazed men.

Officials of the Benue State Emergency Agency are very disturbed as the Internally Displaced Peoples Camps [IDPs] set up for victims of the recent flood disaster in the state have been turned into sex camps.

Daily Post reports that the IDP camps have been invaded by sex-crazed men who turn the camps into sex camps in the last one week as used condoms, empty packets, toilet tissues, and pants have been found.

It was gathered the sex romps has become very rampant and it is causing concerns for officials of the IDP camps with fears that some of the ladies could become pregnant or infected with sexually transmitted diseases.

One of the residents of an IDP camp who spoke to newsmen on the situation alleged that some individuals troop into the camp at night in the name of bringing relief materials to the flood victims but end up having sex with the homeless female victims.

The resident added that aside from the visitors, men and women within the camp also engage in the reckless sexual escapades.

A mother of three who gave her name as Rose said that a particular man she identified as Famous, always came to the camp at night and go out with some of the girls.

“This is what we have been facing here within the last one week. They have turned the camp into a sex haven.

In fact, there is this particular man who calls himself Famous; each time he comes here, he stays till late night.

Sometimes, he ends up going out with some of the girls whom he claims are his relatives. The sex escapades are so rampant here and though it is not my business what the girls do, it is very worrisome," Rose added.

An official of the Benue State Emergency Management Agency who was contacted on the sex romps, said they have no right to stop any legally married couple from making love.

“It is not part of our duty to stop anyone from having sex. We have not heard of any rape case so far, so I can’t speak on people having sex.

Don’t forget we have married people in this camp. We can only advise them to avoid it for the meantime.”

When informed that some packs on condoms and blood-stained pant were seen in the camp, the female official replied angrily:

“Nobody has complained to us about this. I am just hearing this for the first time. If you see condoms and blood-stained pant, then I have no idea of how they got in here. Excuse, I am busy now.”

Though it has not been ascertained if any lady had been raped, the sex romps have become worrisome especially with the condition of the IDPs who are still trying to come to terms with their situations.
