A group of youths rented to pray for President Buhari has vowed to burn a car belonging to one of the organizers of the prayers for refusing to pay them.

A group of youths mobilized to be part of a 'Pray For  President Muhammadu Buhari' programme which held in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory last week threw caution to the wind when they held the organizers to ransom over unpaid money.

The action of the youths which was captured on video stemmed from the fact that the organizers of the prayer concert held at the Eagle Square refused to pay them the money they had promised.

The youths who vowed to burn one of the vehicles belonging to one of the conveners of the National Youth Council of Nigeria [NYCN], who was named as Emma George, for refusing to pay them after they had participated in the prayers which lasted for three days.

The aggrieved youths believed that George had pocketed the money given to him to pay them for their roles in the prayers while leaving them hungry and uncared for.

In the video, the angry youths grounded the vehicle belonging to George who is the Chairman of the Taraba State chapter of the NYCN, vowing never to release the vehicle if he refused to pay them the money he had agreed to pay them for the prayer exercise.

One of the angry youths was heard saying:

“We were mobilized from far places like Keffi, Mararaba, Taraba, and other places and we started the prayer 9 O’clock and till now, we have not eaten any thing.

We can’t even go home because we all brought other people. We were promised N1,500 each but Emma George from Taraba pocketed our money.

So, we heard they wanted to hold a meeting here (Chelsea Hotel), and we then decided to come. We didn’t see him but we seized the car from his driver.”

The aggrieved 'prayer warriors' said they would take the vehicle to Mararaba or burn it down if George refused to show up and pay them.

“Is that how to move Nigeria forward? Money meant for many people was taken by one person,” another youth was heard saying in anger.

It was gathered that the prayers at the Eagles Square had the support of the president’s wife, Aisha Buhari, and other top government functionaries who had promised to pay the participants but reneged on the promise.
