A 33-year-old applicant, Ikechukwu Okoye, was on Wednesday arraigned in a Karmo Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, for alleged criminal trespass, shop-breaking and theft.

The prosecutor, Florence Auhioboh, told the court that one Chimezie Peter of Ereke Bus Stop, Karmo, reported the matter at the Karmo Police Station on August 17.

She said the complainant alleged that on the same date he went to his shop and discovered that the defendant dishonestly broke into it and stole some clothes, plasma television and generator, all valued at N600, 000.

Auhioboh, said that the defendant was seen wearing one of the dresses, and gave some to one Christopher Onmiyi to sell. He said all efforts to recover other items proved abortive.

The prosecutor said that the offences contravened Sections 348, 355 and 288 and of the Penal Code.

The defendant denied committing the offences, while the judge, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq, granted him bail in the sum of N30, 000 and a surety in like sum.

He adjourned the case until September 11, for hearing.
