Morning Teaser: 'I am full of regrets in marrying a mummy's boy'

A worried woman

Mide is not finding it funny with the meddlesomeness of her mother-in-law in her marriage especially as he does not have the will to put his mother in check.

"Dear Pulse,

My name is Mide, a 28-year-old married woman with two adorable children. I have been married for five years now but I have been living in regret due to my mother-in-law's attitude.

I did not date my husband, Jesse, for long because he was under pressure by his mother to get married as the only child and she kept hammering that she wanted to carry her grandchildren before she died.

But one thing I noticed while we were dating was the fact that Jesse still lived with his mother who seemed not to be in a hurry to let him live his life.

He was always quick to run to her if he needed to make any decision and like I often teased him, he took permission from her to sleep with me.

He kept assuring me that when we get married, his mother's influence on him would naturally peter out since she would then know that he has come of age but after five years, the influence is getting stronger as Jesse is still tied to his mother's apron strings.

My mother-in-law has made life unbearable for me, trying to impose her will on whatever I do, how I train my children and that I must take permission from her before I prepare any meal.

Initially, I jut thought she was protecting the bond that exists between her and her son, afraid that another woman would have absolute control over him but this time, the control is becoming so much that I feel choked up.

In recent times, she has started to blame me for every imaginable thing in this world. If her son is sick, my mother-in-law will blame me; if he has a bad day at work, she would take it out on my nagging.

Jesse reports to her and tells her what he does not even tell me and when I complain, he would tell me that he has one mother and can get another wife if I leave him.

I am no more comfortable with this marriage especially as my husband seems to take sides with his mother over his own wife and children.

Mide."

Dear readers, on Morning Teaser today, what do you think Mide should do to keep her marriage and put her mother-in-law in check?
