The three suspects are being tried for conspiracy, burglary and stealing.
Three men are facing trial at an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly breaking into a shop and stealing a recycling machine and other items valued at N10 million.
The accused — Ezekiel Akanji, 46; Wasiu Isaa, 22; and Rabiu Olalekan, 30 — all unemployed, live at Ijaiye area of Abule Egba on the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway.
The trio is being tried for conspiracy, burglary and stealing.
According to the Police Prosecutor, Sgt. Raphael Donny, the offences were committed on May 9 at 11, Bosere St., Obadeyi area of Ojokoro, Ijaiye, a suburb of Lagos.
Donny said the accused with others still at large burgled the shop of the complainant, Mrs E. Jinadu and stole her recycling machine and other recycling products valued at N10 million.
“On their way after the crime, their lorry was stopped by the police at a checkpoint.
“When they could not provide receipts for the products, the police suspected a foul play.
“Two of them escaped while the three accused were arrested, ” he told the court.
The offences contravened Sections 287, 309 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (Revised).
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Davies Abegunde, in her ruling, granted the accused bail in the sum of N300,000 each with two sureties each in like sum and adjourned the case until June 19 for mention.
