A Kenyan lesbian who sought asylum in Sweden is set to be deported after she failed a gay test that was meant to determine her sexual status.
A 28-year-old Kenyan lesbian, Lucy Murugi who sought asylum in Sweden is set to be deported after her application was rejected by the country's migration authorities because she failed a gay test.
According to Nairobi Wire, Murugi could not convince the authority that she was actually gay, leading to questions about her real sexual orientation.

It was gathered that Murugi fled from her country in 2015 after her family and community threatened to harm her after she came out that she was a lesbian and was helped to leave the country by a cousin who got her a visa and accommodation in Stockholm, Sweden.
The bitter Murugi who spoke to Swedish journalists on her imminent deportation said that she had applied for asylum but was rejected by the migration board 14 months later because she failed the interviews that form the basis for the credibility of the assessment.
According to her, the board’s questions were almost incomprehensible to her as she did not understand the questions asked her.
"I did not understand anything. No one told me what to expect. What I would do or say, or at least give me some guidelines," she reportedly said.
“It feels horrible and disappointing. It breaks down one. You realize that you made a mistake somewhere and when you try to fix it, you will rarely get a second chance,” she added.

Murugi further said that if she is deported back to Kenya, her life will be in danger and can spend up to 14 years in prison as lesbianism is against the law in her country.
She also said that her plight was made the harder because a Ugandan tabloid, Red Pepper, had listed her as one of the top 200 African homosexuals and she has been marked as a target.
