Sgt. Yomi Egunjobisaid the accused and others conspired and assaulted Tiamiyu, by first hypnotizing him before attacking him with an axe.
An 18-year-old man, Kayode Oluke, was on Thursday brought before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for allegedly hypnotizing and attacking a man, Mr Sodiq Tiamiya, with an axe.
Oluke, who resides at No. 5, Ogunleye St., Ipaja, a suburb of Lagos, is standing trial on a two-count charge of conspiracy and assault.
According to the Prosecutor, Sgt. Yomi Egunjobi, the accused and others still at large committed the offences on April 9 at Church Bus Stop, Ipaja.
He said the accused and others conspired and assaulted Tiamiyu, by first hypnotizing him before attacking him with an axe.
The offences, he noted, contravened Sections 172 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 172 stipulates three years for serious assault, while Section 411 provides two years for conspiracy.
The accused, however, denied the charges.
The Magistrate, Mrs M.O. Osibajo, granted bail to the accused in the sum of N100,000 and two sureties in like sum.
Osibajo said the sureties must be gainfully employed and also reside within the court’s jurisdiction.
In addition, the sureties are required to show evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
She adjourned the case until May 15 for mention.
