The mother of a Lagos-based teacher who was murdered by her husband says he must have killed her for ritual purposes.
The mother of a 39-year-old teacher who was allegedly murdered by her husband in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State has cried out that her daughter's husband killed her for ritual purposes.
Punch reports that the deceased, Titilayo Shodipo, was allegedly killed by her own husband, Omolaja and the family of the victim are of the strong belief that she may have been killed for an evil purpose.
The grieving mother, Maria Ahinaje, has called on the police authorities and the state government to make sure the fleeing suspect is arrested and made to face the full wrath of the law.

It was gathered that the couple had been married for seven years and had four children together though the marriage had witnessed several fights and disagreements in the past though no one knew it could lead to the death of Titilayo.
It was learned that last Monday, April 24, 2017, Omolaja who has been on the run since then, had beaten up his wife and stabbed her to death after another disagreement at their home on Insurance Crescent, Logunlogun village, Igbo Olomu, Ikorodu, Lagos State.
The remains of the woman were said to have been found by neighbours in a pool of blood, after which policemen from the Owutu Division were invited.
The police were said to have evacuated the corpse and moved it to the Ikorodu General Hospital mortuary while a manhunt has been declared for the suspect.
The family of the deceased on Friday told Punch Metro that they had asked Titilayo to quit the relationship but she refused because of her children.
Ahinaje who said the family was not in support of the marriage of her daughter to Omolaja because he was a drunk and an absentee father who did not take care of his family responsibilities.
Speaking on the incident, the woman said:
“My daughter endured seven years of hardship and pain. When they started their relationship, I told her not to marry him, but she said she loved him.
When they got married, he started beating her on a regular basis. He drank a lot and had extra-marital affairs. He would buy little foodstuffs for the family and when the food is exhausted, my daughter and her four children would start begging for food on the street.
Most times, I had to send them foodstuffs and send money to her account for them to survive.
There was a time he assaulted her when she was pregnant with their second child and she had to leave him to stay with us for a while.
One day, she said she wanted to visit her family clinic in Ikorodu. Her father said she should use our hospital in Ketu and even gave her N3,000, and she agreed.
Before we knew it, she called her father and said she was not returning again because her in-laws had intervened and persuaded her to return to her husband.
I stopped going to their house three years ago because my daughter told her husband bad things about me, saying I didn’t encourage their union. Because of that, the man started misbehaving towards me.
He probably used my daughter for evil purpose before stabbing her to death.”
Titilayo’s father, Apostle Simeon Ahinaje, said although the family wanted justice for the deceased, it was not ready to pursue any case.
“We want government agencies to do their jobs and prosecute the suspect. The law should take its full course. They should find him and deal with him.
However, we have decided not to pursue any case; we have handed over judgment to God as true Christians. Nothing will restore the life of our daughter.
Omolaja is a hoodlum who did not deserve my daughter. I had also warned her against the marriage just like her mother but she insisted on marrying him."
Confirming the story, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Olarinde Famous-Cole, said investigations were ongoing into the case while the command was still searching for the suspect.
