The grandmothers had a misunderstanding at their residence and abused each other.

Two grandmothers, who are alleged to be habitual fighters, on Monday appeared before an Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos over breach of public peace.

Rotimi Ayeni, 54, and Funke Dawodu ,64, both of whom reside on Olatinfewa Street, Igbogbo, Ikorodu, are standing trial on a count charge.

They, however, pleaded not guilty.

According to the prosecutor, Cpl. Bosede Adegeshin, the grandmothers had a misunderstanding at their residence and abused each other in a noisy manner for hours.

Adegeshin said that the disturbance prompted their neighbours to call the police.

The prosecutor said that the offence contravened Section 44(1) of the Criminal Code Laws of Lagos State, 2011, which stipulates one year imprisonment for breach of public peace.

The Magistrate Mr O.O. Olatunji, granted each of the women bail in the sum of N20, 000 with one surety in like sum.
Olatunji adjourned the case until June 9 for mention.
