A 90-year-old man, Rasaki Raji, has been sentenced to six months in prison with an option of N50, 000 fine for stealing the sum of N150, 000.
Daily Post reports that the accused was arraigned before the Magistrate Court sitting in Iyaganku, Ibadan, Oyo State under the leadership of Mrs. Giwa Babalola on Monday, May 8, 2017, on a two-count charge of obtaining and stealing the above-mentioned sum in a charge no.Mi/544/2016.

The court heard from the prosecutor, Mr. Oyebanji Oluseye that the accused committed the offence in the year 2014 at Idi-Oro area of Apete, Ibadan.
He said that the accused reportedly collected the money from one Mrs. Omolara Ajani, promising to get her a half plot of land.
Oluseye said that the accused took the N150,000.00 and converted it to his own use.

The prosecutor said the offence contravened sections 419 and 390(9), Criminal Code Cap 38, Vol. II, Laws of Oyo State of Nigeria 2000.
The Chief Magistrate, in her ruling, sentenced the accused to 6 months imprisonment with N50,000. 00 option of fine.
