It was a bright and sunny afternoon on Sunday, April 30, but that in no way stopped tons of people from trooping into Muri Okunola Park to attend Church in the Park.
Hosted by Joshua Ville, Church in the Park opened with DJ Mordu dishing out the hottest gospel tracks and Grand Komanda, the MC, introducing the program in grand style.
Church service got underway soon after, with special songs from the resident choir of Joshua Ville, Sounds of Heaven and the Psalmists.
Great conversations about real faith soon followed, after which the fun began in earnest.
Vendors with varieties of products from clothing to shoes to food to accessories were present and added much colour to the event.
Tee Sway, the wordsmith and rapper, Adeola, the powerhouse songbird, and G-force gave powerful performances that had the crowd jumping and chanting along to every song.
Bez, the soul crooner, performed songs off his "Super Sun" album, including the popular tracks Stupid Song, 'Zuciya Daya', and the titular track, 'Super Sun'.
Beejay Sax got the people dancing with popular tunes from his saxophone.
Tim Godfrey and Xtreme wowed and excited the audience with their great energy, new songs, and contemporary arrangements of old songs.
The evening ended with a performance from Moz, who delivered some inspiring and scripture-based hits.
Overall, it was a memorable day for those who attended. Some of them had some things to say:
“It is so good to see a church in Nigeria think outside the box; church is without walls!”
“I am so glad that I attend a church that encourages creative expressions of worship. Church in the Park was awesome!”
