The court heard that the accused with his accomplice attempted to kill a man, Muhammed Kudan, for an undisclosed reason.
A 42-year-old security guard, Ali Sani, will know his fate on May 5 as an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court has reserved judgment after he pleaded guilty to attempted murder charge.
Sani, who resides in Ijaiye Street, Agege, Lagos, was arraigned for a four-count charge of conspiracy, threatening violence, breach of peace and attempted murder.
He attempted to slit the throat of a man with a knife before he was rescued.
The Magistrate, Mrs O. J. Awope, ordered that the accused should be kept behind bars pending sentence on May 5.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp. Ezekiel Ayorinde, had told the court that the accused committed the offences with another man still at large on April 26 in Agege.
According to him, the accused with his accomplice attempted to kill a man, Muhammed Kudan, for an undisclosed reason.
“The accused unlawfully entered the complainant’s room and held his shirt.
“He brought out a knife and attempted to slit the complainant’s throat but he was rescued by some neighbours, who reported the matter to the police.
“The accused was arrested while his accomplice escaped,” he said.
The offences contravened Sections 56, 168, 230 and 412 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (Revised).
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 230 prescribes life imprisonment for attempted murder.
