In Ibadan: Court remands commercial motorcyclist accused of stealing cassava flour

The court heard that Raheem had on April 26 at about 5:oo a.m. broken into a shop at Oje market.

An Iyaganku Senior Magistrates’ Court in  Ibadan  on Tuesday remanded a 40-year-old, Mukaila Raheem, for allegedly stealing a bag of cassava flour.

Senior Magistrate, Mrs Munirat Giwa-Babalola, ordered the remand of the defendant after he had pleaded guilty to the charge of stealing.

According to the trial judge, Raheem should be held in custody till April 5 for the presentation of facts.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the defendant, a commercial motorcyclist resident at  Oje Elewa area of  Ibadan, was arraigned  on a two-count charge of breaking in  and stealing.

The Police Prosecutor, Cpl. Oluseye Oyebanji, had earlier told the court that Raheem had on April 26 at about 5:oo a.m. broken into a shop at Oje market.

Oyebanji said that the defendant, thereafter, stole one bag of cassava flour valued at N15,000, property of one Mrs Taye Nurudeen of Oje market.

He said the defendant  was, however, apprehended by security men and handed over to the police.

The prosecutor said the offence contravened Sections 390 (9) and 413 (1) (2) of the Criminal Code Cap 38, Vol. II of Oyo State,  2000.
