The police prosecutor, Sgt. Kola Olaiya, said that Sodiq collected the money on behalf of his boss and absconded with the money.

A Senior Magistrates’ Court sitting in Iyaganku, Ibadan, on Friday sentenced one Sodiq Opeyemi, 23, to one month’s imprisonment for stealing N20, 000 belonging to his boss.

The Senior Magistrate, Mrs Munirat Giwa- Babalola, said Sodiq should spend one month at Agodi Prison having been found guilty of the offence.

Giwa-Babalola, however, gave him an option of paying N20,000 fine into the coffers of Oyo State Government.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that Sodiq pleaded guilty to the offence of stealing the money.

NAN reports that Sodiq, an apprentice on a trailer, was arraigned on a one-count charge of stealing N20,000 belonging to his boss, Olalekan Ayinla.

According to police prosecutor, Sgt. Kola Olaiya, Sodiq collected the money on behalf of his boss, Ayinla, and absconded with the money.

Olaiya said the offence was contrary to Section 383 and punishable under section 390 (6) of the Criminal Code Cap 38, Vol. II, Laws of Oyo state 2000.
