Odama, who told the court she got married to the respondent on May 14, 2014, described her husband as intolerable.
A housewife, Vivian Odama, on Tuesday begged a Mararaba Upper Area Court, to dissolve her marriage to her husband of three years, Abdullahi Usman, over alleged lack of care.
Odama, who told the court she got married to the respondent on May 14, 2014 according to the native law and customs of Iyala, Ogoja in Cross River, described her husband as intolerable.
According to the petitioner, the union is blessed with a daughter, who is a year and seven months.
“My husband does not care about me and our child.
“In fact, immediately after our marriage, the respondent started misbehaving and was not providing for the family as it should be.
“He has failed in his matrimonial responsibility.
“He is so cruel to me to the extent that whenever I secure a job, he will do everything possible to stop me from working,” she said.
Odama claimed she had reported her husband’s “wicked behaviour” to his parents, but to no avail.
“I am tired of him and I am no longer in love with him.
“I am, therefore, begging this honourable court to dissolve this marriage, because I am frustrated,” she said.
The respondent, however, denied all the allegations.
The judge, Ibrahim Shekarau, adjourned the case until May 16 for consideration of settlement and hearing.
