The Prosecutor, Insp. Victor Eruada, told the court that the accused committed the offences on April 25 at Karaole Estate, Ogba, in Lagos.
Two boys, who allegedly stole N13,500 cash from a woman, were on Thursday brought before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.
James Peter, 20, and Seyi Idowu, 18, whose addresses were not provided, are facing a two-count charge of stealing and conspiracy.
They, however, entered a `not guilty’ plea.
But the Prosecutor, Insp. Victor Eruada, told the court that the accused committed the offences on April 25 at Karaole Estate, Ogba, in Lagos.
According to him, the accused entered the same tricycle with the complainant, one Chioma Martins, who sat at the middle, but when she alighted, she discovered that her N13,500 cash had disappeared from her pocket.
“She shouted for help and the accused were apprehended immediately by passers-by.”
Their offences contravene Section 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (Revised).
The section stipulates a three-year jail term for convicted offenders.
The Magistrate, Mrs G.O. Anifowoshe, admitted the accused to bail in the sum of N10, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
She said the sureties must be gainfully employed and should also show evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
Anifowoshe adjourned the case until May 22, for mention.
