Ogbu was arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), on a 10-count charge of obtaining money by false pretenses and stealing alongside his co-defendant, Ibebugbu Chuks.
The EFCC said the accused had defrauded a branch manager of the defunct Bank PHB (now Keystone Bank), Patrick Chukwu, of N12.3 million under false pretenses from inside Kirikiri Maximum Prison while serving a jail term for another fraud-related offence.
Delivering judgment on the matter, Justice Okunnu found Ogbu guilty of all the 10 charges against him but discharged the second defendant of the offences, saying the prosecutor failed to prove the charges beyond reasonable doubt.
