The murder suspect reportedly killed the elderly woman over claims that she dispossesses land owners of their asset.
A 25-year-old man, Muhammad Sabitu, has been arrested for the murder of a 65-year-old woman at her farm over a land dispute in Taura Local Government Area of Jigawa State.
The victim, Baba Uwa was reportedly hacked to death with a hoe due to the suspect's claim that the victim had taken over the farmlands of some people.
Jinjiri Abdu, the Public Relations Officer for the Jigawa Sate Police Command made the disclosure today while addressing pressmen in the state capital, Dutse.
He said, “On April 8, we received a report that one Muhammad Sabitu allegedly attacked one Baba Uwa with machete while she was working in her farm.
“Upon receipt of the report, our men immediately arrived at the scene where they found the victim unconscious.
“But unfortunately she died while being taken to General Hospital Ringim due to injuries she sustained.”
Sabitu, who is still under police investigation will be prosecuted as soon as this is concluded, the police spokesperson confirmed.

Meanwhile, the body of the deceased, Uwa has been released to her relations for burial.
