A 20-year-old artisan has been arraigned before a Lagos court for allegedly raping a student while holding a dagger to her throat.
Samson Ogunbanjo, a 20-year-old generator mechanic, has been docked before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates' Court sitting in Lagos State for allegedly raping a 15-year-old girl while holding a knife to her throat.
PM Express reports that Ogunbanjo, a resident of at 9, Agric Road, Abule Egba, a suburb of the state, also threatened to kill the girl if she refused to allow him to rape her.

The incident, according to the police prosecutor, Clifford Ogu, happened on on April 12, 2017, at No. 7, Ayinde Street, Iju Isaga area of the state, when the accused accosted the victim who was returning home from school, took her to his friend’s house where he raped her.
The accused, Ogu said, is facing a two-count charge of rape and threat to life, offenses which contravene Sections 137 and 156 (1) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015, with Section 137 stipulating life imprisonment for offenders.
The prosecutor told the court:
“The accused brought out a dagger and threatened to stab her if she refused to ‘cooperate’ with him.
She was rescued by some neighbours who heard her screaming and reported the case to the police."

When the charges were read to Ogunbanjo, he pleaded not guilty and the Chief Magistrate, Mrs. Taiwo Akanni granted him bail in the sum of N250, 000 with two sureties in like sum while the case was adjourned until May 22, 2017, for a mention.
