If you are having phantom vibrations, you are most likely addicted to your mobile phone.

If you have ever had a 'phantom phone vibration' and 'phantom phone alert', there are chances that you are very addicted to your mobile phone.

According to a new study, if you have experienced a non-existent vibration of your phone, it is more than likely that you are a phone junkie.

People who use their phones frequently are more likely to experience fake vibrations than people who are hardly on their phones. This is according to research from Journal Computers in Human Behavior.

Another study in 2016, 90 percent of 290 U.S. college students in America experienced phantom vibrations. 40 percent of the students revealed the vibrations happened at least once in seven days.

"It's almost like a hallucination. There's a fear that we're going to miss a text, somebody is trying to reach us and we're not being responsive" explained Randi Smith, Ph.D, an associate professor of psychology at Metropolitan State University of Denver.

For those who think people can't be addicted to their phones, further research has shown that it can lead to anxiety, depression, weight gain, and feelings of isolation.

"I think it's a little scary how dependent most of us have become on our devices" she further said. Doctors who have studied phantom vibrations have advised people who suffer from it to go on a phone fast for a few days.
